  1. Q. How do I start up the computer?
    A. The CMPC has a start button that is depressed to boot it.
  2. Q. How long does the battery last?
    A. The battery lasts for 34 hours when fully charged.
  3. Q. Will it work anywhere or do I have to be in the school for it to work?
    A. The CMPC has TPM, Trusted Platform module built into the bios of the computer that requires a certificate of authority at regular intervals. If the CMPC is not within the school environment when the certificate is requested, the machine will go off.
  4. Q. Is there a limit to the number of students a teacher can monitor on his machine?
    A. No. There is a software that enables the teacher to monitor the activities of the whole class.
  5. Q. Will I be able to talk to other students in other countries who are using the CMPCs?
    A. Yes. The CMPC provides a collaborative platform that enables students share ideas with each other and with their contemporaries.
  6. Q. Is there a way to increase the storage capacity of my CMPC?
    A. The CMPC has a SD slot for extra memory.
  7. Q. Does it have any anti theft device?
    A. The CMPC has TPM Trusted Platform Module that serves as the anti theft device. It does not prevent it from being stolen but when its stolen, it cant be used.
  8. Q. What operating system does it run?
    A. It can run on both Windows and Linux OS.
  9. Q. Does it need an anti virus?
    A. The need for anti virus is dependent on the OS on the CMPC. If its running on Linux, there is no need for an antivirus but if its running on Windows it will need an anti virus.
  10. Q. Can I connect it to an external speaker?
    A. Yes it has a port for external speakers.
  11. Q. Can it work with a projector?
    A. Yes, it can.
  12. Q. Does it have parental guidance so the children can be blocked from visiting certain sites?
    A. Yes. There is a parental guide installed that can assist parents to monitor and restrict their children to certain sites.
  13. Q. Does the CMPC work with a LAN cable?
    A. The CMPC has in built WiFi but it has RJ45 port for LAN cable.
  14. Q. Is the CMPC screen TFT or made with a different material because its meant for children?
    A. The screen is TFT, which is userfriendly (to the eyes of the user) as well as being efficient on power.
  15. Q. Is it just a miniature laptop?
    A. No. The CMPC is a specially designed learning tool. It is not just a miniature laptop, its a tool to learn and think with.
  16. Q. Is it water proof?
    A. The CMPC has a tolerance for moisture and liquids but its not completely waterproof.
  17. Q. Does it have multi media capabilities?
    A. Yes, you can listen to music and watch videos.
  18. Q. Does it have blue tooth, infrared?
    A. No, it does not have either. But it is possible to install/connect either.
  19. Q. Can it be connected to a printer?
    A. It can be connected to a printer with a USB port.
  20. Q. What age range was it produced for?
    A. The CMPC has been produced for children from age 11 16.
  21. Q. Can I use my flash drive on it?
    A. Yes, the flash drive can be used on the CMPC.
  22. Q. Where is it presently being used?
    A. Its being used in Brazil, South Africa, Lebanon, Turkey,Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Nigeria (Government Secondary School, Jabi, Abuja).
  23. Q. Can it be used by adults?
    A. The CMPC was made for children. The key board has been made for small hands. It will be uncomfortable for an adult.
  24. Q. What type of battery does it use?
    A. It uses lithiumion battery. This is the same type of battery used by other laptops.
  25. Q. How durable is it?
    A. It has no moving parts as such it can tolerate rough handling better than a regular Laptop.
  26. Q. Does it have a light indicator when its charging?
    A. Yes. There is a power LED that blinks when its connected to power.
  27. Q. How do I know when the battery is full?
    A. The power lead stops blinking and there is a flash on the screen that the battery is fully charged.
  28. Q. Does it have any short cut keys?
    A. No it does not have any short cut keys.
  29. Q. Is it meant to completely take over the traditional way of teaching?
    A. The CMPC is designed to enhance teaching and learning and shift the focus from teachercentric to studentcentric.
  30. Q. Does the content deviate from the current curriculum being run in schools?
    A. No. It has the current curriculum being run in Nigerian schools integrated in the content provided. It takes into consideration the ethnographic characteristics of Nigeria.
  31. Q. Does the content/curriculum have any input from NERDC?
    A. Not at the moment, but content can come from any supporter of the initiative.
  32. Q. Is content being provided by only skoool.ng?
    A. No. There are other content providers like Cinfore and Brain friend which has been developed by Nigerians. Brain friend has over 30 subjects covering Primary 4 – Senior Secondary 3. The content includes brain teasers, aptitude tests, sample JAMB,SSCE,JSCE, First School Leaving Certificate and electronic notes to prepare for these examinations.
  33. Q. What level is it meant for? Primary? Junior Secondary school? Senior Secondary school?
    A. The CMPC can be used by 12 years old children. Due to budgetary restraints however, the use is limited to secondary schools.
  34. Q. Will there be any impact assessment tests to test the academic performance of these students after they are taught with the CMPCs?
    A. Yes. The impact assessment tests in the PoC school in Government Secondary School, Jabi was used to measure the improvement in academic performances. The impact assessment tests results will assist in providing a case for 1:1 elearning.
  35. Q. Does it have a night light?
    A. No, it does not have a night light.
  36. Q. What are the limitations of the CMPC?
    A. The storage capacity, keyboard layout and screen size.
